Summing averages across channels is correct: two channels averaging 100 and 50 concurrent viewers are 150 people watching the category at once. A category only gets its own page once at least five channels cleared that bar.
The bands split the same population by audience size. Each channel's position is assigned inside its own band, over every channel in it and before any cut, and the number beside a band's name is how many channels it holds. A channel needs 3h or more live in the period to be placed.
